Brief Description
The Microsoft Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) with Service Pack 1 (SP1) unifies management of Group Policy across the enterprise. The GPMC consists of a MMC snap-in and a set of programmable interfaces for managing Group Policy.

Overview
GPMC simplifies the management of Group Policy by making it easier to understand, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Group Policy implementations. GPMC also enables automation of Group Policy operations via scripting.

GPMC can be used to manage Windows Server 2003 as well as Windows 2000-based Group Policy implementations. Customers who have at least one valid license of Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server can obtain and use an unlimited number of copies of GPMC. Please see the End User License Agreement (EULA) provided with the GPMC software for details on licensing terms.

Key features delivered via GPMC include:

A unified graphical user interface (GUI) that makes Group Policy much easier to use.
Backup/restore of Group Policy objects (GPOs).

Import/export and copy/paste of GPOs and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) filters.
Simplified management of Group Policy–related security.
HTML reporting for GPO settings and Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) data.
Scripting of Group Policy related tasks that are exposed within this tool (not scripting of settings within a GPO).

Prior to GPMC, administrators were required to use several Microsoft tools to manage Group Policy. GPMC integrates the existing Group Policy functionality exposed in these tools into a single, unified console, along with the new capabilities listed above.

Microsoft has created 40 application templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 that are available for download at the SharePoint Products and Technologies Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=85166&clcid=0x409).

Application templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 are separated into two groups, site admin templates and server admin templates.

Site admin templates are custom templates that are easy for any SharePoint site administrator to install into the template gallery.

Server admin templates were created as site definitions, enabling tighter integration and enhanced functionality with the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 platform. They require administrator permissions on the server to install.

Automating the installation of the WSP and STP templates
To install the WSP and STP templates to your SharePoint site:

1.Unzip the templates to either a directory on your server or a file share you can access from your server.
2.Save the following scripts as a .bat file to the same directory you unzipped the templates into.
3.Simply double click each .bat file and watch the automated install which should take no more than a couple of minutes for each .bat file.

You can update your Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 installation by using the Office Customization Tool (OCT) to reconfigure Outlook settings, save the updated settings in a file, and apply this file to your users' installations. You can use the OCT to update feature settings as well as to reconfigure options in Outlook profiles.

 Note:
Updating Outlook profiles by distributing a new PRF file is another strategy that you might choose. For example, if you saved a PRF file with your users' Outlook profile configurations when you installed Outlook and you are making minor changes to the profile, you might choose to make the change in the PRF file and distribute the files to users. For more information about updating profiles by using a PRF file, see Apply an Outlook Profile (PRF) File to configure Outlook profiles.

Using the OCT to update your installation, you can, for example, specify features to install or uninstall, change Outlook options to a new default value, deploy registry key settings, choose to modify existing profiles (for example, to move users to a new Microsoft Exchange server) or add new profiles (for all users).

The OCT is run from users' computers by using Office Setup with the /Admin option. When it runs, you can configure options, then save them in a Setup customization file to run on the client computer.

Overview
This software is an optional supplement to Windows Server 2008. In Windows Server 2008, the Streaming Media Services role (which includes the latest version of Windows Media Services) and remote administration tools are not included in Server Manager. To obtain the new features and tools available in Windows Media Services for Windows Server 2008, such as the built-in WMS Cache/Proxy plug-in, you must obtain and run the appropriate Streaming Media Services role installer file on the updated platform.

These Microsoft Update Standalone Package (MSU) files install either 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) versions (as noted in the file names) of:
Windows Media Services and the rest of the Streaming Media Services role in Server Manager, on “full” installations of Standard and Enterprise editions of Windows Server 2008
The Streaming Media Services Server Core role, on “Server Core” installations of Standard and Enterprise editions of Windows Server 2008
The Windows Media Services snap-in for Microsoft Management Console (MMC) on a computer that is running the Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition of the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system

The Windows Server 2003 Certificate Services Web enrollment functionality relies on an ActiveX control that is named Xenroll. This ActiveX control is available in Microsoft Windows 2000 and in later versions of Windows. However, Xenroll has been deprecated in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008. The sample certificate enrollment Web pages that are included with the original release version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, with Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), and with Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) are not designed to handle the change in how Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 perform Web-based certificate enrollment operations.

Overview
Forefront TMG Client can be installed on client computers protected by Forefront TMG 2010. Forefront TMG Client provides HTTPS inspection notifications, automatic discovery, enhanced security, application support, and access control for client computers. It provides authentication for Winsock applications that use TCP and UDP, supports complex secondary protocols, and supplies user and application information to Forefront TMG 2010 logs.

When a client computer running Forefront TMG Client makes a request, the destination is evaluated by the Forefront TMG Client software, and external requests are directed to the Forefront TMG 2010 computer for handling. No specific routing infrastructure is required. Forefront TMG Client sends user information transparently with each request, enabling you to create a firewall policy on the Forefront TMG 2010 computer with rules that use the authentication credentials presented by the client. Forefront TMG 2010 allows you to configure automatic discovery for Forefront TMG Client computers, using: Active Directory, WPAD entry in DNS, or DHCP to obtain correct Web proxy settings for clients, depending on their location.

For more information about Forefront TMG Client, see Firewall Client Basics: Introduction to the ISA Server Firewall Client and Forefront TMG Client at the Microsoft TechNet site
